Day 1 in KL :)

January 6, 2010

I am such a slowpoke!

After coming back to Singapore, the housemates and I travelled to Kuala Lumpur to celebrate Housemate 1’s girlfriend’s birthday. From Dec 2nd to Dec 5th 2009 (yeah, last year) we had a short and very cheap homecoming holiday! :)

We took up Jetstar’s promo price of $59 for return tickets direct to Kuala Lumpur’s International Airport (KLIA).

The plane ride was so amazingly fast I will never take the coach again! The moment we were airbourne, we started filling out our departure cards barely after I finished filling in my particulars, the captain announced “cabin crew, prepare for landing.”

The whole flight was approximately only 45 minutes inclusive of the many many rounds the plane cruised on the runway and it made Alvin feel cheated because he didn’t get his $30 worth of “air time” – he didn’t even join us on our flight back but more about that in Day 4.

Elaine and her brother came to pick us up from the airport in style before we drove to her place – our “hotel” for the next 3 nights – which was on top of a hill with an awesome city view. No photos because its weird to take pictures outside someone else’s house. :( but I was amazed alright.. My first time seeing landed property with its own security guard!

Celebrated her 23rd birthday with her family before we headed out to explore the night life KL has to offer.

First stop was dinner at the nearby Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall. The mall practically looks like an extension of the next door theme park, Sunway Lagoon. Inside and outside, the design of the building was so beautiful it reminds me of Dubai’s infrastructure.

Dinner was xiao long baossss~

Ordered some unique dishes Yuinting recommended. Apparently Dragon-i is her favourite restaurant. Yay for us! This rather lavish meal only costs me about SGD15. Hooray for the good exchange rate. :)))

After dinner we had to head outdoors to see the christmas display and the signature lion’s head and statuesque pyramid structure.

I accidently deleted a couple of the posed photos from my camera.. Lucky for once, I have already uploaded a portion of them on Facebook. Hehe! *feeling so smart now*

Golden Sphinx – a statue of a reclining lion with a human head!

Photobucket

Even the walls have craved details of Egyptian characters not like the cheapo painted versions we have in Singapore’s Great World City. Poo poo!

Photobucket

The famous hugeeee lion’s head that can be seen all the way from the expressway… Magnificant right??

Later at night, we headed to Pacific Regency’s Luna Bar for Wednesday Ladies Night! Free admission, free drinks and impressive views. Our host very proudly proclaimed this breezy rooftop view to have among the best night views in town. :)

Very relaxing atmosphere with light jazzy music and not the jarring clubbing sounds so typical of Ladies Night. From our angle we could only see one half of the KLCC twin towers among many many other brightly lit buildings across the city.

There were pockets of glass window boxes around the swimming pool with sofa cushions for people to lounge on. But because there were too many of us, we couldn’t fit into the various glass boxes and had to settle for the big day beds at the very edge of the pool.

Nice to just talk cock and chill the night away…

Because we are such spoilt people, we proceeded to the next wing for some air-conditioned comfort. Very pretty with alot of bling bling deco.

Here, we sat in a glass box. It was kind of scary at first because you could see allllllllll the way down. But after awhile, we adjusted fine and entertained ourselves with alot of photos of the……………………

The ERP system in Malaysia is like using ezylink cards in the car. You tap at various toll booths along the expressway for the barrier to open and even inside car parks too! So cute!

Well, this rounds up my first day of my date with KL. :)
