Pacman on Google

May 26, 2010

I learnt something very interesting in school today. Apparently, everything and anything that happens in society has a far-reaching economic impact.

Take search engine giant, Google’s anniversary for instance. By putting the old-school game, Pacman on its homepage, an average user spent 50 seconds on Google’s homepage up from the previous 12 seconds. Converting those seconds into productive labour, the business world lost $120 million dollars in the 48 hours that Google had that game on its website.

Awesome much?

On another note, we had wedges from Co-Op today. It was really hot and so good considering we ate in the cold outdoors with scary Ibis eyeing our food. Waited for Laksa Night organised by the Singapore Club and was quite disappointed because it pretty much sucked.

3 weeks till the finals. Got to pull up my socks and get down to work!
